Are poor rednecks that vote right essential supporting their own demise?

because "i dont want no colored folks runnin my country" I hear this all the time (except in harsher terms) I live near a county full of Confederates that have the racist flag on shirts/cars/etc.. Racism is still ramped in parts of America. I'm in Maryland, not too close to the deep south.
