I'm thinking of getting the lap band?

I'm 19 (almost 20) and I'm 5'6 260 pounds my BMI is 44 I am obese. I called the American Bariatric Medical Insitiute where my mother had her gastric byp done and they said if I switch my insurance over to Great Lakes (which is no problem to do) than they could go ahead with the procedure what do I need to know? Any have a lap band?
